The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The honest* truth about having multiples in and around Southampton

*This may or may not be skewed by a lack of sleep, fondness for thinking positively about really rubbish stuff and a general forgetfulness which comes with being a parent!

Introduction

Being a parent is hard. Being a parent to more than one child is hard. Being a parent to multiples is hard. This isn’t going to be all positive but then again, it most certainly isn’t all negative. This will be a collection of memories and thoughts which cover all aspects of being a parent or carer to multiples (multiples is the generic term for twins, triplets, quads etc etc). Some will be funny, some will be thought-provoking, all will be true (some may be fuzzy due to length of time since they occurred or lack of sleep), however all will be the individual experiences of a local Southampton multiple parent.

Please remember that as every person is different, every experience of being a parent or carer to multiples is unique and whilst you may or may not find some advice within these words, or guidance, this is not designed to be true to form for everyone and everything. If you have genuine concerns about a certain aspect of caring for multiples, please approach an appropriate professional for example; Midwife, GP, Consultant Obstetrician, Consultant Paediatrician, Pharmacist, Health Visitor, Nurse, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, Teacher, Teaching Assistant etc
